Raschad Al-Khafaji

Position: Director, FAO Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium

Mr Al-Khafaji, a national of Austria, holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in Austria. He started his career in 1992 at the United Nations Office Vienna (UNOV). From 1996 to 1997, he worked as Consultant and Translator at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna. He served as Meetings Assistant at the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) in Vienna between 1997 and 2003. In 2003, he joined FAO headquarters as Meetings Officer in the Fisheries Department, and, in 2006, became Liaison and Meetings Officer. From 2013 to 2019, he served as Attaché de Cabinet in the Office of the Director-General (ODG) and, subsequently, became Deputy Director of Cabinet ad interim. In 2019 he was appointed as Special Assistant to the Director-General QU Dongyu. He has been serving as Director of the Liaison Office with the European Union and Belgium since August 2021.
