Ben Gibson is programme officer for geopolitics at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). He joined IRENA from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he led bilateral cooperation with Canada and Mexico on air quality and climate change programs. He previously worked as assistant director for research development at the Duke University Energy Initiative, as a U.S. diplomat in Latin America and Central Asia, and as a secondee at the International Energy Agency. Ben also served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine. He holds a master’s degree in public policy from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan.
