Andrey Ivanov
Position: Senior Advisor to Executive Director UNGC, European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights
Andrey Ivanov is Head of Sector “Roma inclusion” at the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). He holds Master of Science in Political Economy from the Central School of Commerce in Warsaw, and a Ph.D. in Modern History from Institute of International Economics and Political Studies in Moscow. Prior to joining FRA in 2013, Dr. Ivanov worked at UNDP’s Regional Centre for Europe and CIS as human development advisor for ECIS region and coordinated UNDP’s quantitative data collection on Roma vulnerability (the 2002, 2004 and 2011 regional surveys on the situation of Roma in Central and Eastern Europe). As recipient of two NATO research scholarships, between 1994 and 1998 Dr. Ivanov was working on issues of regional security and ethnic conflicts in the Balkans. He is the author of a monograph “The Balkans divided: nationalism, minorities and security” as well as of a number of academic articles addressing various aspects of the political economy of post-socialist transformation, vulnerable groups and Roma inclusion.
