Position: Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Poland

Ambassador Hatem Tageldin assumed his duties as Ambassador of Egypt to Poland in December 2020. He also served as Ambassador of Egypt to India and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bhutan from 2014 to 2018.

Throughout his career, he worked in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dealing with multilateral organizations, economic cooperation, sustainable development, African affairs, protocol, and the diplomatic and consular corps. He started his diplomatic career in 1989 and was posted to the Egyptian Embassies in Sudan (1990-1994), Norway (1996-2000) and Spain (2002-2006), as well as the Permanent Mission of Egypt to the United Nations in New York, as Expert in the Second Committee (2007-2010) and Deputy Permanent Representative (June 2010-December 2011).

Before his current assignment in Poland, he served as Assistant Foreign Minister, Chief of Protocol (2018-2020), and was among the leading team organizing several regional and international conferences hosted in Egypt, especially during the Egyptian chairmanship of the African Union, and the First Arab League - EU Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Throughout his career, Ambassador Tageldin got associated with a wide scope of issues such as sustainable development, international security, as well as international organizations. He participated in many UN conferences and negotiation processes related to environmental governance, climate change, energy, water, food security, sustainable development goals, and humanitarian activities.
As Egyptian Ambassador to Poland, he works to strengthen diplomatic relations, ties with the business community, and people to people connections. Highlights of Ambassador Tageldin tenure include the successful visit of the Polish President H.E. Mr. Andrzej Duda to Cairo in May 2022, which paved the way for enhancing relations and witnessed the signature of agreements on economic, agricultural, sports and diplomatic cooperation. Significant improvement in bilateral trade during the last two years has been recognized, and strong cooperation in the tourism field culminated in the resumption of direct flights by Polish air carrier LOT between Cairo and Warsaw. Recently, he took part in the bilateral consultations round held in Warsaw, where political issues of common interests were discussed, as well as economic and investment opportunities between the two countries, especially in the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal. Other areas of interests include tourism, culture, infrastructure projects, smart cities, digitization, climate change, supply chains, energy and food security.
